Balmain

History of the brand

HISTORY: the meeting of two passionate experts

The Balmain watch brand was born from the marriage of two worlds. On the one hand, the style and aestheticism of the Parisian Haute Couture Maison, Pierre Balmain, founded in 1945, whose daring women’s collections continue to meet with success today, and on the other, the watchmaking and technological expertise of the Swatch Group. The first Balmain watch collection was launched in 1987, initially under licence. In 1995, the Swiss watchmaker acquired the exclusive rights, and the brand became independent but remained true to its distinguished and elegant origins and the world of Haute Couture, its eternal source of inspiration.

QUALITY: constant attention to detail

Balmain Watches is based in St-Imier, in the heart of the Jura Arc region of Switzerland, the cradle of traditional watchmaking. This is where the brand hones its expertise and creates its collections—timepieces that meet the world's most demanding quality criteria. Balmain watches proudly bear the prestigious "Swiss Made" label as a guarantee of excellence.

STYLE: glamorous with a rebellious streak

Balmain watches are proud statements of refinement and audacity, designed in stainless steel, coated with yellow or pink PVD, or adorned with diamonds. Primarily intended for women, they reflect the distinction and aestheticism of their Haute Couture origins. For example, the signature arabesque motif of Balmain watches is directly inspired by the celebrated embroidery on Pierre Balmain's dresses. Year after year, the contemporary design and delicate lines of Balmain watches remain true to their reputation and continue to draw their inspiration from the world of fashion.
